Miracles Are More Than Events

Psalm 139:13-14 – “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

The reunion unfolds in the airport terminal as a woman spots her daughter emerging from the secure area. Five years ago, this same daughter had walked out in anger, swearing never to return. Addiction had stolen her future, and bitterness had poisoned every relationship. But today she walks forward with clear eyes and open arms. No cameras capture this moment. No news crews document it. Yet everyone watching knows they’re witnessing something extraordinary—not just an embrace, but a resurrection.

When we think of miracles, our minds often rush to the dramatic: Red Sea partings, water turned to wine, Lazarus raised. We marvel at these spectacular displays of divine power, and rightly so. But sometimes we miss the miracle walking right beside us—the everyday wonder of a human life transformed by grace.

Consider Paul—not just his Damascus road conversion, but the ongoing miracle of his transformed life. Or Mary Magdalene, whose liberation from seven demons was just the beginning of her miraculous journey. These weren’t just recipients of miraculous events; they themselves became living miracles.

Scripture tells us that anyone in Christ is a “new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This isn’t poetic language; it’s supernatural reality. The angry person who learns to love, the addict who finds freedom, the broken heart that learns to trust again—these are miracles in motion.

The greatest miracles aren’t always the most visible ones. Sometimes they’re sitting across your dinner table or looking back at you in the mirror—people whose lives bear witness to the ongoing miracle of God’s redemptive work. Every transformed life is a miracle in motion, a living testimony that God is still in the business of making all things new.

Today’s Prayer: Father, open my eyes to recognize the miracles of transformed lives around me, including my own. Amen.

Reflection Question: How has God transformed you from an event into a living miracle?
