For The Rest Of My Life

Joshua 24:15 – “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

The stories arrive from different chapters of life. The child who discovers faith through a parent’s gentle guidance. The teenager who encounters God amid peer pressure and identity questions. The young adult who finds Christ during college exploration. The mid-life professional who turns to God after achievement leaves them empty. The elderly person who discovers divine love in life’s final season.

Faith finds us at different junctures, but it always asks the same question: “What will you do with the time you have left?” Whether that means decades or days, the commitment carries equal weight in God’s economy.

Jesus illustrated this principle in His parable about vineyard workers. Those hired at day’s end received the same wage as those who began at dawn. When early workers complained about this apparent injustice, the vineyard owner replied, “Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money?” (Matthew 20:15). The point wasn’t about payment inequity but about grace’s generosity—God values complete commitment during available time more than duration alone.

We see this principle throughout Scripture. The thief on the cross had only hours to live as a believer, yet Jesus promised, “Today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). Zacchaeus, after a lifetime of exploitation, committed his remaining years to restitution and generosity. Paul, despite his history of persecuting Christians, devoted his remaining life so completely that he could declare, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race” (2 Timothy 4:7).

The question isn’t when you found the Lord, but what you’ll do with whatever time remains. Will you give Him the rest of your life?

Today’s Prayer: Father, thank You for finding me when You did. Help me use whatever time I have left—whether long or short—to serve You wholeheartedly. Amen.

Reflection Question: How completely have you committed your remaining time to God?
