Someone Is Watching You
Proverbs 15:3 – “The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.”
At the grocery store checkout, a small camera lens stared down from above the register. Walking through the parking lot, security cameras tracked movement from multiple angles. Even the drive home revealed cameras at traffic lights, intersections, and business entrances. What once seemed like occasional surveillance has become constant observation—every trip documented, every action potentially recorded.
This modern reality of ubiquitous cameras creates an interesting awareness. Many people find themselves slightly more conscious of their behavior when they notice that telltale black dome or blinking red light. The knowledge that someone might be watching influences how we act, even in small ways.
Yet long before the invention of cameras, Scripture declared a more complete truth: God’s awareness of our every action is total and constant. The psalmist marveled, “You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar” (Psalm 139:1-2). Unlike cameras that might malfunction or miss certain angles, God’s observation is perfect and comprehensive.
This reality can feel overwhelming, but it’s actually intended for our benefit. God’s watchful eye isn’t that of a suspicious security guard looking to catch us in wrongdoing. Rather, it’s the caring attention of a loving Father who knows us intimately and desires our best.
When we truly grasp that God sees everything—our struggles, our efforts, our failures, and our victories—it can transform how we live. His constant awareness becomes not a burden but a comfort, knowing that we’re never alone, never forgotten, and never beyond His care.
We’re being watched—will that knowledge shape our choices?
Today’s Prayer: Lord, help me live with the awareness of Your presence, not in fear but in the comfort of knowing You see, understand, and care. May this knowledge guide my choices toward what honors You. Amen.
Reflection Question: How would your daily decisions change if you lived with a greater awareness that God sees not just your actions, but also the motive behind those actions?
